Everyone knows of Captain Morgan rum. The people over at the Captain’s distilleries have created yet another incarnation of the regular Captain’s rum that appears it might be ready to stand alongside the best of the rum world. Captain Morgan Tattoo has to be one of the most unique tasting rums on the market today. It doesn’t have that barrel aged great taste that most dark rum is known for, but instead it makes its mark with a very different liqueur-ish flavor. Either way, this should make for a fun night.
Captain Morgan Tattoo is a bold variation crafted from fine, aged Puerto Rican rum. It’s blended with a secret combination of premium and hot spices that makes for a sweet, warm finish. The best way to describe the flavor is a perfect mix of Royale Chambord and Jägermeister. Meanwhile, Tattoo carries the same proof as Jägermeister, and the taste is just great. The flavor may prove too much for you if you drink too many of them straight. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try. With it’s fruity, raspberry-like, and spiced flavor, this rum is excellent for shots and is a lot friendlier than Jägermeister. So why not give it a try?
Now the real fun with Tattoo comes with the mixing. Every way Captain Morgan Tattoo can be mixed tastes incredible. Well maybe not all the ways are incredible, but most of them are. We came up with a delicious little mix, something I like to call “Fresh Ink.” It’s a mixture of Sprite© and Captain Morgan Tattoo (duh), and it tastes great. The way it mixes actually tastes substantially better than it does on the rocks. When Sprite© is added to Tattoo, the raspberry flavor is seperated and not quite as thick, making it easier to drink. That fruity flavor is what makes this rum taste more like liqueur than normal rum. Tattoo is perfect for the causal drinker and the full-blown, “I don’t have a problem, I can quit whenever I want to” drinker alike. I’m the latter; I can quit whenever I want.
One of Tattoo’s weak points is that it didn’t give me a serious drunk feeling, even though it is 70-proof. It was a very weak drunken buzz that didn’t last very long. It was a real letdown. It gave me a drunk that was just strong enough to float the boat. Surprisingly, after barely being able to maintain a decent drunk, the hangover from it was pretty unfair. I had a mild headache and a case of the cotton mouth that was horrible. In defense of Captain Morgan Tattoo, I did drink the whole bottle. Like I said before, it just tastes wonderful mixed. Once it hits your lips, it’s so hard not to want more immediately. I do not have a problem. When did this become an interrogation? I just like a few drinks….or 12.
Perhaps the best part about Captain Morgan Tattoo is that it will only cost you $17. Something that tastes as good as this rum does for such a low price is well worth purchasing. It probably won’t get you totally drunk, but it will taste great while trying. If you would rather have something that is going to get you trashed, you my not care to have this one as a stand-alone drink, but there is always the option of mixing it with something stronger like Everclear 151. No matter how you drink, Tattoo is at least worth a try. Just remember you can drink as much as you want; it’s fine, no one is going to judge you here. Everything is okay now. Where I previously described Private Stock as ‘vile,’ Tattoo is like nirvana in a glass. Wonderful by itself or with Coke. I’ll have to try it with Sprite on recommendation of the BB crew.
I bought this because I’d never seen it before and the bottle looked cool. I took it home and tried it and haven’t bought anything different since. I love mixing it with Coke or takin shots with it to start off the night and then goin from there. I haven’t tried it with Sprite, but I think I will.
It looked intriguing, so I sought out an airplane size bottle. It’s … ok. Nothing to write home about. I’ll mix it with Talking Rain Lemon-Lime and call it good.
Damn, I thought it was a black glass bottle. NOPE Tasty stuff though.
I just used Tattoo as the topper to some Voodoo Juice and it makes a world of difference. Great with Coke and a splash of cherry vodka too.

Taste like CANDY!!!!! I love this stuff it can’t be discountinued I wanted to buy it for my boyfriends birthday he loves it too it is his traditional Halloween drink but they didnt have it this year!!!! It does not get him drunk eighter but it is a great way to start the night. Mixing it normally helps with the hangover.

Heh – it is a little syrupy. so waffles (with melted butter) would be wonderful. I picked up the children/airline size bottle, chilled it, and had a sip. Syrupy came to mind, with fruity, and not bad at all for a 35% booze content. Of the mixers I had on hand I tried it with a cherry diet pepsi, and I like it alot. Not sure I could spend a night drinking them, but a few would be good for sure.
I could see, and would like to see, this taking on jager shots as the dark/spicey shot of choice. I like jager, but this has something a little kinder than jag.

I like to make my own mix, 3/4 tattoo 1/4 code red mountain dew. I like to call it a Dirty Morgan. All my friends are hooked on it.

This stuff is amazing. We get it for all our parties. When you mix it with coke it tastes like cherry coke. It’s great for people who usually can’t take shots too because it’s a lot smoother than Captain’s regular rum.

You people who don’t care for it have really bad taste – you probably couldn’t shoot whiskey either. CM Tattoo is AWESOME!!! Mix it with coke Zero and it’s amazing!!!! If you buy the big boy – and do a 1/2 and 1/2 with rum to coke ratio, it will get you drunk. Hangovers are just the necessary evil to a fun night (or afternoon). I can stop whenever I want, but where’s the fun in that?

Compared to the regular captain morgan, this stuff tastes like donkey doo. It’s carmely and certainly doesn’t go well with coke.

I love this shit. I drink it straight-up and I love the flavor. But what I probably love more is the fact that you can get it so cheap! And ya, as the guy said, it’s at least worth the try. Tattoo will always be one of my favorites.
My friend and I drink a shot of tattoo and a shot of captain with a squeeze of lime and then add coke zero and it is a super drink. Everybody likes things different along with mixing so there ya go.
The place where we use to buy tattoo we can’t seem to get it there anymore for they have said that it has been discontinued. So has it or does anyone know? I would certainly like to know where we can now get tattoo because captain is just not the same without tattoo.

3 oz Tattoo
3 oz Mountain Dew
1 oz Amaretto
splash of Grenadine.
Freaking smooth drink. I have come to really love Tattoo and will probably stop drinking regular or private stock altogether. It’s a really smooth drinking rum.
I enjoy this straight and after trying the Fresh Ink drink, i even enjoy this more. It is a drink that i would enjoy during a night where i just want to sip on something. for parties i rather be taking shots, but i would have this in my off-hand. havent tried it with coke yet, dont think i will. i got sailor for that.

I realy like to take it with redbull or monster energy drinks, and he was right its good with sprite, … I guess I will try other ideas from here too that I havent already tried… Of course I like all of the Capt Morgan drinks, though Silver, Private Stock, and Parrot Bay pineapple are my favorites… But the moreI drink of Tattoo Its just moving in place of Parrot Bay…

I’m in the liquor business and taste lot’s of spirits. For a darker rum, Cruzan Black Strap is the best and costs a lot less. Want to know why? All the Cruzan rum’s begin with an aged distillate (1 year) and is have the lowest fusil oils of any spirit. This means its the cleanest rum out there. The Puerto Rican rums might say they are aged but only a small part of the rum consists of “aged” rum. Cruzan is just better. While I don’t see Black Strap and Tatoo ever replacing Jager, it’s a less expensive alternative for those on a budget or looking to try something new. Enjoy whatever suits your taste.
I got a few bottles coming in, this week. Can’t wait to try this stuff…

Tattoo rum with cryrstal lite peach iced tea 1.5 shots per 10 ounces of tea is freaking awesome! I have quit beer, cigarettes, and spending money on crap alcohol drinking this stuff. No stinky breath is noticed even when you are drunk! The hangover when drinking too much is still smooth. Only one advil will loose the headache. I totally reccomend Tattoo rum!
